PRESS RELEASE: Hindu Sports Day - Houston - 2012
Rahul Chandra
The second Annual Hindu Sport Day was observed on April 21st, 2012. As in the year past, this event was supported by two area temples of Houston, Houston Durgabari and Arya Samaj. The vent was a huge success with over 120 participants contesting for more than 12 categories for five games. The enthusiasm among the parents and participants was motivating and appreciative. HSD once again brought Hindus from all walks of life, from very successful entrepreneurs and multi-millionaires to recent Hindu refugees from Bhutan who were in the early part of realizing their own American Dream. To see them compete as one, under one roof was extremely heartwarming.

Someone forgot to put a sign here; a vivid, warning sign with a “skull and crossbones” figure signaling danger at every turn in the badlands bordering West Bengal and Bangladesh. For, in these timeless Hindu lands and the lands of our fathers and forefathers, a virulent form of radical Islam has established its quarters breeding hatred, bigotry, intolerance and violence. Women are raped, men are murdered, temples are razed, idols are desecrated, urdu is promoted, mission creep of sharia looms large and Hindus are once again on the run.

A Rejoinder to the New York Times
“Yoga and Sex Scandals: No Surprise Here”
Rahul Chandra
A week ago I came across the Yoga article published on your newspaper which makes every effort to link Yoga with „Sex Scandals‟. I am a Hindu by practice and student of Hinduism and was extremely disappointed when I saw the vulgar display in the way a path of Yoga practice „Hatya Yoga‟ was projected and the low subconscious of the author, reviewer and approver of this article in publishing this faith based subject. New York Times is a renowned newspaper which has global readers and is a newspaper which serves as role model to world in depicting cultures, traditions, practices and religions across the world in most respectful and dignified way.
Think Analytically, Not Emotionally

Recently I came across some interesting sayings from Yahoo groups that I belong to. A handful of Mullahs were able to stop Salman Rashdi, the reason being that he hurt the feelings of Muslims. In contrast look at the response of our swamis, sanyasis and sadhus. When M.F. Hussain drew dirty pictures of our deities what did our Sanyasis and Sadhus do? One member of the group wrote: “Now consider the most extremist of our Hindu preachers. What do they preach? Hanuman Chalisa & Brahmacharya. Now let us consider the group behavior of Hindus. The Hindu nationalist BJP promises uniform family law, abrogation of special status etc while the Muslim nationalist BNP promises license to rape infidel women.” Look at the contrast, one party promotes civilization while the other promotes barbarism.
