WikiLeaks

Wikileaks is a political group headed by Julian Assange who is an Australian citizen. He has a long background in computer hacking. This group has obtained secret documents e.g. the cables sent to the State Department by US diplomats stationed in US embassies around the world. In April 2010 Wikileaks posted a video on its website that shows a US Apache helicopter killing at least 12 people - including two Reuters journalists - during an attack in Baghdad in 2007. A US military analyst is currently awaiting trial, on charges of leaking the material along with other sensitive military and diplomatic material. However these cables showed undiplomatic face of US diplomacy and it did not please the U.S. The U.S. government took action to hurt Wikileaks. Wikileaks.org was subjected to “denial of service” attacks. A few days later the U.S. company that hosted wikileaks.org canceled this domain name. Then Wikileaks started using Amazon servers. However very soon Amazon also cancelled their service after a powerful U.S. politician contacted Amazon. Wikileaks started using wikileaks.ch hosted by a company in Switzerland. However, they have continued to spread their messages via their account on Twitter and Facebook, that are named twitter.com/wikileaks and facebook.com/wikileaks.
