Diwali Celebration
Dilip Mehta

dilip_mehta_hmsa_web Diwali is the most important festival in Hindu tradition.  Diwali means festival of light. Also can be said as triumph of knowledge over ignorance. Light over darkness. There are few stories about the begining of this celebration. One story is about Shri Krishna.  When Shri Krishna defeated demon Narkasur he freed 16000 princesses kept by Narkasur. These princesses asked Krishna who will marry them because they stayed with Narkasur. Shri Krishna said he would. This way he lifted those unfortunate princesses.

dilip_mehta_hmsa_web_thumbHindus are brain washed by some obtuse concepts. This brainwashing is due to inferiority complex and slave mentality.

Navratri and Dashera

dilip_mehta_hmsa_web_thumbFestivals are part of our Sanatan Hindu Dharma.    Through these festivals Hindu Dharma  expresses itself to common masses. These festivals bind us together.  Navaratri is very important festival.  Through this festival we worship Goddess, female personification of Supreme Self or Parmatama. Parmatama Itself remains beyond polarities even though both polarities emerge from It. Actually it is transcendental union of these two polarities. Hindu Dharma gives equal importance to female deities. That is why our all male Gods are shown with female counterparts.  In Navaratri we worship Goddess for nine nights. One may ask why nine nights, why not 3 or 6 or 8?  There is profound philosophical reason behind it. Number ‘9’ contains all digits. Because 8+1 = 9, 3+6=9, 7+2=9 etc. But ‘9’ is not contained by any digit. Similarly the Goddess we worship contains whole universe within her, but the universe can not contain Her. She is beyond that.

Internal Enemies of Hindus
Dilip Mehta

dilip_mehta_hmsa_webFor many centuries we were taught by our philosophers, Gurus, and  Swamis that our internal enemies were Kam (passion),  Krodh (anger), Dhikar (hatred),  Irsha (jealousy),  aham (ego) etc.  We were told to conquer those enemies and make our minds pure and egoless. But we were not told what to do after cleaning our minds. Will it solve any of the problems that we face in our daily lives? Will it stop some Jihadi from blowing me up? Will it stop a ruffian from hurting my family? What is the use of wasting our time in cleaning our minds when we cannot even protect ourselves?
