Hindu Congress of America Deplores Gov.  Bentley's Fanatical Remarks
Rudranath Talukdar

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 19, 2011

The Hindu Congress of America is deeply concerned at the reported remarks of Governor Robert Bentley wherein he is reported to have told a group at a Church gathering, right after his inauguration that. "If the Holy Spirit lives in you that makes you my brothers and sisters. Anyone who has not accepted Jesus, I want to be your brothers and sisters, too," Bentley said. robert_bentley

That is remarkable coming for someone who is constitutionally bound to serve all Alabamans equally, and to respect the U.S. Constitution which bars state sponsorship of any religion. This raises the suspicion that Gov. Bentley will treat non-Christians in a less than fair manner because they happen to be not his "brothers and sisters"

We ask the Governor to repudiate his statement and also ask the Republican National Committee to do the same.
